Kaingo Safari Lodge
Kaingo Safari Lodge is a family owned camp built and run by Derek Shenton, a son of Barry Shenton, former ranger in Luangwa and warden of Kafue National Park.
Overlooking the Luangwa River in a prime area of the South Luangwa National Park, Kaingo's relaxed, personal and friendly atmosphere offers its guests fantastic game-viewing opportunities within an area of stark beauty and varied terrain.

Accommodation comprises four twin bedded chalets and one honeymoon suite. All of the rooms have en-suite facilities, are well-ventilated, mosquito-proofed and silently lit by solar power. These brick and thatch chalets are set discreetly apart, each with a view over the Luangwa River.

The large centrally located open-sided sitting room includes a dining area, library and Kaingo's renowned lead wood bar. A special feature is the unique wooden deck built out over the river. From this relaxing vantage point one can view game coming down to drink, basking hippos, water birds fishing, and daily elephant crossings.

The area is ideal walking country (under the escort of an armed scout and guide) and guests can also enjoy day and night game drives. Two frequently viewed lion prides live in the area and the lodge also has an excellent reputation for leopard-sightings. A highly popular activity is to spend time at the nearby elephant and hippo hides, which afford visitors close-up views of these great mammals along with spectacular photo opportunities.
