Marlin Lodge
Marlin Lodge is situated on the south western shore of Benguerra Island, second largest of the four main islands that form the Bazaruto Archipelago off the Mozambican coast. This luxury private island lodge offers 17 sea-facing suites with direct access to the beach, a host of exhilarating activities and delectable cuisine. The island, which lies 14 km offshore from the Mozambican mainland town of Vilanculos, extends approximately 11 km in length and 5.5 km in width. From its sand dunes, savannah, freshwater lakes and wetland eco-systems, acacia woodlands and forests, Benguerra Island is a diverse ecological gem.
The centrepiece of Marlin Lodge is a spacious, wooden and thatched living-dining area with beautiful ocean views. The swimming pool is in a glade of coconut and ilala palms, perfect for a day of lazing and tropical cocktails. All of the chalets are a stones throw from the beach, and have uninterrupted views over the soft white sand and crystal clear waters. They're incredibly spacious, with tall thatched roofs; exposed wooden beams and slate floors.
The 14 seascape luxury beach chalets are beautifully decorated in creams and oceanic blues, with touches of African deco. They are open-plan with large glass sliding-doors that lead out onto a private veranda with deck chairs and a hammock. The lounge has plenty of comfortable seating space, a well stocked mini bar (for your own account) and tea & coffee making facilities. In the summer months, the ceiling fan and air-conditioning are an extra luxury.
Directly behind the lounge is the open-plan bedroom, which has either a twin or double four poster bed; with mosquito nets, crisp white linen and teal bed-throws. Behind the bed is a low wall which separates the bathroom. The bathroom is enormous, with a large walk in shower, vanity area, twin basins and a separate loo. At the back of the room, sliding doors lead outside to an enclosed courtyard, with an additional open-air shower.
Three executive beach suites are similar in style but even more spacious.
The warm tropical waters surrounding Benguerra Island have incredible coral reefs and an abundant sea life. Marlin lodge has a fully equipped dive and snorkel centre as well as a fully equipped tackle and angling centre. The lodge offers a host of water activities including water-skiing, wind surfing, catamaran sailing, knee-boarding or marlin fishing. There's also a mini wellness centre where you can enjoy refreshing and de-stressing spa and beauty treatments.
