Ibo Island Lodge

Ibo Island Lodge is situated on the Indian Ocean paradise of Ibo Island, just north of the mainland city of Pemba in pristine northern Mozambique. Ibo is just one of a string of 27 tropical islands that make up the breathtakingly beautiful Quirimbas Archipelago in northern Mozambique. Ibo Island lodge is located on the prime waterfront site, where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide. The architecture is a restoration of a style that originated over one hundred years ago with coral and lime walls over a meter thick and original teak beams.



Rooms are individual and simply designed with splashes of opulence and high lofty ceilings. All bedrooms boast mahogany handcrafted beds covered with crisp cotton linen and Indian silk throws. Rooms share wide verandas, which house comfortable plantation style chairs and soft cushions. A carved Indian screen divides the space, providing that extra bit of privacy. Bathrooms are all en suite with twin basins and large marble showers.



Tropical gardens planted with frangipani, bougainvillea and palms house two intimate swimming pools, perfect for escaping the tropical heat. On the rooftop terrace cocktails and frosty Mozambican beer can always be found.



Cuisine features freshly grown vegetables, herbs and fruits from the lodge’s garden project. Traditional Ibo specialities such as fragrant fluffy coconut rice are combined with the freshest of seafood: giant tiger prawns, game fish, crab and lobster.



Guests can partake in a multitude of experiences and are captivated by the islands tranquillity, history and ambience: beach, kayak, sail, swim, massage and snorkel.
