Trip Summary

This Botswana/Zimbabwe adventure combines a few nights of luxury camping with accommodation in small, personal lodges. Your first destination is the community-run Khwai private concession bordering Moremi Game Reserve – perhaps the best example of eco-tourism in Botswana. You then move on to a private concession adjoining Chobe National Park - an area teeming with migratory herds of game moving back and forth from the Linyanti River. Across the border you explore Hwange National Park, home to the big five. The grand finale is the World Heritage Site of Victoria Falls.

Days 1-3:
On arrival into Maun Airport, you will be met and escorted to your charter flight to Khwai Tented Camp in the Khwai Community Area where you will spend three nights.

Khwai is a private community run concession, on the eastern border of the Moremi Game Reserve along the Khwai River. The River forms a boundary between the reserve and the community area and is the sole source of water for miles around, attracting wildlife from afar. All proceeds from tourism go directly to help local people and local projects through the Khwai Community Trust.

You are accommodated in spacious and comfortable tents with beds and private en-suite bathroom.

In addition to the normal daytime game drives, it is possible to conduct night drives, which are not permitted in the National Parks or Game Reserves. Exploring after dark with a spotlight offers you an opportunity to experience some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during the day. It is also possible to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot and enjoy an up close and personal encounter with the flora and fauna.

Wildlife encountered in this area includes lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, zebra, hippo and giraffe.

Days 4-6:
After your last morning activity at Khwai you are transferred by light air charter to Linyanti Bush Camp for three nights.

Linyanti Bush Camp is an intimate 12 bedded tented camp on the banks of the Linyanti marshes, in a private reserve bordering the western boundary of Chobe National Park in the Chobe Enclave. Each spacious tent consists of a bedroom, living area and vanity desk, along with an en-suite bathroom. Activities consist of game drives, walking, spot lighting and hides.

The area is best known for its large populations of elephant and buffalo that congregate in vast numbers, especially during the dry season. Lion, sable, roan, leopard, wild dog and a number of the plains game can be enjoyed at Linyanti. The rare and elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo and crocodile can be found in the surrounding marshes. The area also offers spectacular birding all year round.

Days 7-9:
After your last morning activity at Linyanti Bush Camp you transfer to Kasane by charter flight. On your arrival into Kasane you clear customs and transfer by road to Somalisa Camp in the heart of Hwange National Park.

Three nights are spent at this authentic and intimate bush camp, comprising six elegantly furnished canvas tents with en suite bathrooms, flush toilet and alfresco bush shower. The stunning main area and pool overlook the pan where large numbers of game congregate, allowing you to relax and enjoy game viewing from the comfort of camp. Activities include guided walks led by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you, game drives and spot lighting as well as game viewing from hides.

This is a big five area and wildlife includes elephant, kudu and sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, white rhino, lion, leopard and hyena.

Days 10-11:
After your last morning activity at Somalisa, you transfer by road to Victoria Falls where you spend two nights at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.

The Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is set high on a plateau, which forms a natural boundary to the unfenced Zambezi National Park, and is just four kilometres from the majestic Victoria Falls.

This deluxe lodge prides itself on hospitality and food, rivalled only by uninterrupted views and magnificent sunsets. Created with a keen eye for detail with hardwoods, thatch and vibrant colours - the effect is dramatic. Each bedroom has its own balcony, air-conditioning and modern bathroom. An on-site waterhole attracts a wide variety of game, including elephant, buffalo, impala and kudu.

In addition to visiting the Falls, other exciting optional activities include white water rafting, bunji-jumping, elephant rides and walking with lions. A great highlight is the ‘Flight of the Angels’ - a spectacular helicopter, fixed wing or micro-light flight over the Falls.

Day 12:
After breakfast on your final morning you transfer by road to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
