Pom Pom Camp is named after the Island on which it is built, located in a private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta. As the island is at the head waters of the Xudum river system, the camp enjoys good water levels year round. The concession lies on the western boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve and offers superb scenery combined with a true Okavango wilderness experience.
The camp is set under a grove of shady trees and overlooks a beautiful lagoon, fringed with reeds, covered with water lilies and full of hippos - enhancing the already spectacular Okavango sunsets.
Accommodation consists of nine luxury safari tents in traditional safari style, all with full en-suite ablution facilities which are open to the sky. Each tent has a view over Pom Pom lagoon from a small deck.
The main building is constructed of thatch and canvas and comprises lounge, dining, bar and pool areas, as well as a gift shop and the boma area.
The main appeal of Pom Pom is that it offers a true Delta experience. Activities are mainly water based on mekoro (traditional dug out canoes). Day and night game drives are also offered, although are somewhat dependant on water levels. Short walks may also be an option. Game densities can be relatively sparse so this is a place to enjoy great Delta scenery and excellent birding.
